The London Foundation for International Law organised a Roundtable Discussion Forum in London in March and in Istanbul in April 2019 on the challenges in managing the transition to democracy in the countries emerging out of conflict or experiencing conflict. The theme of the Roundtable Discussion Forum was ‘Assisting the Countries in Transition: A Constitutional Approach’. The speakers included those who have had considerable experience of assisting the countries in transition while working in high level positions within the United Nations and Governments. They shared their international experience and expertise with the participants. The programme was designed in such a way that it allowed participants actively to participate in the discussion. The objective was to provide a stimulating platform for discussion around the key contemporary challenges to the drafting and implementing a new democratic and inclusive constitution in the countries in transition.
